![]() ![]() Then turn the crank 90° as indicated by the timing mark, and set each cyl consecutively in the order, 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2, turning 90° each time. Set cyl 1 valves with 1/4 to 1/2 turn preload as party said. Look through the number 1 plug hole to set the piston at tdc, then make note of where the timing mark on the crank damper is. I personally put the pushrods in for each cyl in sequence as I set the preload. ![]() Turn the crank through several revs to see the exhaust lifter rise and fall, then intake rise, then intake close as the piston comes up on the compression stroke. ![]() You want to set them at tdc on the compression stroke, when both valves are fully closed. You have tdc on both the exhaust stroke and the compression stroke. ![]()
